Before we open a single script, before we talk about beach inductions or garden deepenings or the RESET Technique©, I want you to be crystal clear about what we are actually doing in this work. Because Divine Healing Hypnotherapy is not clinical hypnotherapy with prettier language. It is a different modality. It uses many of the same tools — induction, deepening, suggestion, regression — but the field we are working in is fundamentally different, and the practitioner who doesn't understand that difference will struggle to get reliably deep results.
Clinical hypnotherapy works with the subconscious mind. We help a client release a phobia, stop smoking, lose weight, manage pain, rewrite a limiting belief. The work is contained inside the client's psyche. It is profoundly effective, and I still use it almost every week. But the ceiling on what clinical hypnotherapy can do is the ceiling of one person's own mind.
Spiritual hypnotherapy lifts the ceiling. We use the same trance state — that beautiful theta-range stillness where the analytical mind quiets and the subconscious opens — but instead of working only inside the client's psyche, we open the session to what I call the Divine State of Mind®. In the Divine State, the client has access to their Higher Self, their guides, their Masters, departed loved ones, past lives, the Akashic Records, and the source many of them call God. Suddenly the work is not bounded by what this one person can remember or figure out. It is bounded only by what the soul is ready to receive.
A quick note on language, because you will hear me use two terms and I want you to know exactly how they relate. Spiritual hypnotherapy is the broad category — the entire field of hypnosis work that engages the soul, guides, past lives, the afterlife, and a higher power. Dr. Brian Weiss's past life regression work lives inside that category. Michael Newton's life-between-lives work lives inside it. Many other modalities live inside it too. Divine Healing Hypnotherapy is the specific method you are learning in this course — my method, built over fourteen years of practice, anchored in the Divine State of Mind® framework, the belief-system gate you will learn in the next lesson, the full session flow from beach to garden to Masters, and the RESET Technique©. Think of it the way yoga relates to a specific lineage like Ashtanga: Ashtanga is yoga, but not all yoga is Ashtanga. Divine Healing Hypnotherapy is spiritual hypnotherapy, done a particular way, with healing as the explicit aim. When I say spiritual hypnotherapy in this course I am naming the field. When I say Divine Healing Hypnotherapy I am naming what you and I do inside that field.
The Divine State of Mind® is the title of my first book and the central concept of everything you will learn in this course. It is not a religion. It is a state — a particular configuration of consciousness — that any client can enter, regardless of tradition, as long as two conditions are met. The first condition is that the trance is deep enough. The second is that the client believes, on some level, in something larger than themselves. I will say much more about the second condition in the very next lesson, because it is the question that determines whether Divine Healing Hypnotherapy is the right work for the person in front of you at all.
Let me show you what becomes possible once the Divine State opens. A client who has spent thirty years afraid of water sits with a being of light in the garden and discovers, in a past life she had never imagined, that she drowned saving her child. The fear evaporates not because we reframed it, not because we ran an NLP swish pattern, but because she saw the soul-level meaning of the fear and her own soul released it. A widow speaks for fifteen minutes with the husband she lost two years ago and emerges from the session with the message he had been trying to give her all along. A young man who has been in therapy for a decade for inexplicable rage meets the part of himself that has been carrying his grandfather's wartime grief — grief he could never have known about consciously — and lays it down. None of this is performance. None of it is fantasy. It is the consistent, repeatable result of opening a deep trance to the spiritual realm and getting out of the way.
One story I tell often, because the client gave me permission to use her real name in The Divine State of Mind®, is Connie Fox. Connie is the author of The Power of You: The End of Pain, Separation, and Fear, and she had been receiving written messages from Jesus for years before she ever came to me. She walked into my office and said, simply, 'I'd like to meet Jesus in the garden.' That was the whole request. I took her through the induction, brought her down to the beach, walked her through the garden, and invited the meeting. What unfolded over the next hour was one of the most profoundly tender sessions of my career — not because I did anything brilliant, but because Connie had already opened the door inside herself, and the Divine State of Mind® gave that door a room to open into. Her own words about love, compassion, and non-judgment came through more clearly than they ever had on the page. I was a witness. That is almost always what this role becomes.
Now hear me carefully. I am not telling you these stories to impress you. I am telling you so that you understand what is on the table when you sit down with a client who is right for this work. You are not running a relaxation script. You are not doing supportive talk therapy in a softer voice. You are creating the conditions in which the client's own soul — and the team of light around them — can do what no human practitioner can ever do alone. And the results, when this work fits the client, are the kind of healing people have spent fortunes and decades chasing in other rooms.
Here is the part most introductions to spiritual modalities skip, and it is the part that has made my career sustainable for over fourteen years: this work is not for every client. It is not even for most clients on the first visit. The next two lessons in this module will tell you exactly how to find out who it is for, and what to do for everyone else. Because the worst thing you can do — worse than refusing to take a client, worse than referring them out — is to try to drag a client into the Divine State who has not given you permission to open that door. That is the lesson that took me one painful session to learn, and I will tell you that story.
But first, sit with this. Spiritual hypnotherapy is a window. When the client throws it open, the room fills with light and the healing that walks in is not yours, was never going to be yours, and does not require you to be brilliant. It requires you to be present, to be steady, and to know — with both feet on the ground — what you are doing and why. That is the rest of this course.
A Conversation, Not a Script. In this training, you'll be talking with your client throughout the entire session. You are the guide, and together you move through the process like a dance — responsive, intuitive, and alive in the moment. Many hypnotists work entirely from scripts that they read aloud, often filled with generic metaphors and pre-written imagery. This is not that. The Divine Healing approach is conversational, collaborative, and deeply personal. Every session is unique because every client is unique.

Write down, in your own words, the difference between clinical hypnotherapy and Divine Healing Hypnotherapy as you understand it right now. Keep it. We will return to it in the final module and you will be surprised at how much your understanding has deepened.
