How to Become a Spiritual Hypnotherapist
A practical roadmap for people who feel called to hold this work — from first training hour to first paying client.
1. Get clear on what the work is
A spiritual hypnotherapist is not a stage hypnotist and not a psychologist. You guide clients into a relaxed, focused state and hold the space while their own inner wisdom, guides, or higher self do the healing. The overview of spiritual hypnotherapy is a good starting point.
2. Choose a certification path
Hypnotherapy is not licensed the way psychology is in most U.S. states, so certification is the standard credential. A good spiritual hypnotherapy program teaches:
- Inductions, deepeners, and safe emergence
- Client intake, ethics, and scope of practice
- Age regression and past life regression
- Meeting guides in the Divine State of Mind®
- A trauma-release method such as the RESET Technique©
- How to hold a real session from opening to close
3. Do the training
A thorough online certification takes most students 8–16 weeks of steady work. You study each module, practice with volunteers, and pass a course assessment. When you finish, you receive a certificate you can display and reference on your website.
4. Practice on real people
Book friends and family for free sessions. Record what worked, what surprised you, and where you felt uncertain. Spiritual hypnotherapy is a skill of presence — the more sessions you hold, the more natural your voice, pacing, and intuition become.
5. Set up the practice
You need a quiet space (in person or on Zoom), simple intake forms, a way to accept payment, and clear language about what you offer. Consider professional liability insurance and check your state's rules about the words "therapy" and "counseling."
6. Keep growing
Read widely. Do your own inner work — clients feel who you are before they feel your technique. Revisit your recordings. Stay connected to other practitioners.
Where to begin
The Divine Healing Hypnotherapy Certification is a fully online course with twelve modules, twelve lesson videos, a full hypnotherapist's library of scripts and intake forms, and three of Susan Lawrence's books.
